Hey, y’all! Do you ever have one of songs that you remember from back in the day and it gets stuck in your head?
Recently, I’ve been thinking about a classic 1970 country/pop novelty song called “Tennessee Bird Walk”. (#1 Billboard Hot Country, #23 Billboard Hot 100).
The song was written by Jack Blanchard and performed by him and his wife Misty Morgan as the duo “Jack and Misty”.
Today, I learned that Misty died of cancer on January 1, 2021.
A web search further revealed that Jack and Misty spent their last years together in a mobile home in Florida and were living off Social Security. Thanks to a GoFundMe that was set up after her death, they were (hopefully) able to pay for Misty’s body to be cremated plus medical expenses incurred.
Did they get screwed by the music business? It makes me wonder as I would’ve thought they made some money off the royalties from “Tennessee Bird Walk”.
Mr. Blanchard, we are truly saddened to hear of your lovely wife’s passing and you are in our prayers. If you are reading this and would like to be our guest on “Steve Williams and Friends”, we’d be glad to have you visit.
“Tennessee Bird Walk” has been added to the “Chillin’ With Steve” eclectic AF music library and should be in regular rotation soon.

And finally, here they are performing “Tennessee Bird Walk”.
