If you’re a railfan, you may be familiar with a YouTuber who posted his adventures riding the rails across North America.
On March 27th, YouTuber Mark Nichols (a.k.a. “Hobo Shoestring”), 53, was first reported missing from his home in Johnson City, Tennessee after a late night visit to a local emergency room.
Here is the original missing persons post from The Aware Foundation of Virginia…
On Sunday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation posted a “Silver Alert” on Nichols.
According to the Johnson City Police Department, a fisherman had spotted a body on Boone Lake located behind Nichols’ residence and notified a dive team that was searching the lake. Local first responders soon recovered the body, which was identified as Nichols.
We have reached out to another railfan YouTuber who had known Nichols and hope to secure an interview with him. If you are reading this and had known Nichols, please post your comments and feel free to contact us via e-mail sublignavalleyproductions at gmail dot com.
In the meantime, we offer our condolences to the Nichols family and ask you to join us in keeping the Nichols family in your thoughts and prayers.
Please do NOT post any hateful or derogatory comments as they will be removed.
“Shoestring” may be gone, but his adventures live on through his YouTube channel.
Thank you for reading, RIP “Shoestring”, and until next time…
Peace Out, Y’all!
