Subligna Valley News - November 27, 2022
Latest news from Subligna Valley Productions and Steve's musings.
Another Thanksgiving has come and gone and we’ve entered the holiday season.
For the holidays, we’ve added several classic holiday songs from back in the day to “Chillin’ With Steve”, including an eclectic AF lists of artists including but not limited to Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Ray Stevens, John Mellencamp, and my newest favorite holiday classic from Canada, “Everyone Can Sing At Christmas” by comedian Brent Butt (Corner Gas) and musician Craig Northey.
We’ve recently added more eclectic AF music from classic rock to classic country and classic top 40 hits, including but not limited to Cher, David Allan Coe, David Essex, Johnny Paycheck, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, and Nazareth. This brings our collection to over 1000 titles in our “Chillin’ With Steve” library.
On a personal note, I’ve got some good news… and not-so-good news.
The good news is Mary, our kitty babies, and I enjoyed a nice quiet Thanksgiving together and ended it with our annual viewing of the classic “WKRP In Cincinnati” episode “Turkeys Away”. Click here for the story behind the episode and it’s Atlanta connection. BTW, you can watch this classic TV series on Amazon Prime Video.
The not-so-good news… just before Halloween, I got shingles!!! While the rashes have cleared away thanks to one week of taking Valtrex, I got postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in my right index and middle fingers.
So what does PHN feel like? Imagine multiple pulses of electric shocks on your skin (not enough to kill you, but enough to hurt like hell and keep you awake at night). Last Tuesday, my doctor had prescribed me 100 mg of Gabapentin to take once before bedtime, but sadly, it’s not helping. I’ll be seeing her as soon as possible this week to explore other options for pain relief. Thoughts and prayers for relief appreciated. :)
If you’ve ever had chickenpox (I did when I was a child), the virus (herpes zoster) sticks around and can manifest itself into shingles years (or in my case decades) later. My advice to everyone 50 or older is get your freakin’ shingles vaccine!!! In 6 months, per the advice of my doctor, I’ll be getting mine to prevent (or at least reduce the chances) of a recurrence. #ShinglesSucks
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading our blog and listening to “Chillin’ With Steve” and have a happy and safe holiday season.
