Robert John Pedrick, Jr. (a.k.a. “Robert John”) passed away on Monday at the age of 79.1
In 1979, “Sad Eyes” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The song was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance - Male.2
Robert John also had a hit in 1971 with a cover of The Tokens’ “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, which reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.3
In his memory, we have added “Sad Eyes” to the rotation for our “Steve’s Music Heaven” weekend show on Chillin’ With Steve.
